Marie Small

Background: Marie moved from Wellington to Dunedin to study Occupational Therapy where she stayed to raise her teenage son.    

Marie began her occupational therapy journey working in adult community mental health before moving into work with youth.

Expanding her skill base, she shifted into private rehab, specialising in chronic pain programmes for a couple of years, but once again have returned to the work which inspires her the most -Tamariki, rangatahi and whanau ora.

Qualifications: Occupational Therapy degree

Interests: reading, writing (an ideas person and one day would like to finish one of the many books she has started!), cooking, dinner parties, creating, dancing, biking, barre base

Background: over 20 years of work experience in the social and community sectors as a practitioner, researcher, and policy advisor. She has specialisations in sexual violence and narrative therapy, and has worked and studied extensively in these areas.

From Melbourne and has resided in Invercargill for the last twelve years with in with her seven year old twins and their pet gecko called Maisy.
